House in Nueva Andalucía

Nueva Andalucía, Málaga, Costa del Sol

€7,400,000

Description

Villa Las Palmeras occupies one of the older and larger plots in Las Brisas, set behind gates in the heart of Nueva Andalucía’s Golf Valley. The garden is what distinguishes it. A 2022 survey inventoried more than sixty mature trees, cypress, fig, washingtonia palm and pine planted over four decades, which screen the house entirely from the street and from its neighbours. Newly built villas in this area cannot offer this. Puerto Banús is a six-minute drive.

The house dates from 1985 and has since been taken back to its structure and rebuilt throughout, with interiors by OMEO Design and landscaping by La Manera. Facades are clad in hand-set white stone. The original proportions and the tiled Andalusian roofline remain. Everything else is new.

Entry is through a private gate onto a cobbled courtyard laid in a circular pattern, with a rotating car platform set into it. Beyond, a colonnade of brick arches on carved capitals opens onto the central patio, the one element the renovation deliberately left traditional, drawing daylight into the middle of the plan.

The ground floor runs the width of the garden behind full-height glazing. The kitchen is finished in black lacquer with a quartzite island and Gaggenau appliances, opening to a dining room built around a floor-to-ceiling climate-controlled wine cellar. Reception rooms are calm rather than theatrical, with a linear fireplace in stone as the single focal point.

Five bedrooms across two floors, each with its own bathroom, and three further cloakrooms. The principal suite has a private dressing room, a bathroom in Calacatta with an arched window over the greenery, and a terrace with an outdoor shower facing the golf course. Bedroom floors are herringbone oak.

The lower floor is unusual in both scale and light. Three-metre ceilings throughout, with full-height glazing to the garden at grade rather than sitting below it. A spa in Neolith Amazónico with sauna, hammam, cold plunge and rain shower, a gymnasium alongside, a home cinema, and a games room in herringbone oak. The garage is reached directly from the entrance courtyard.

Outside, the pool runs the length of the main terrace beside a thatched gazebo housing an Argentinian grill, bar, lounge and dining table. A sunken seating area with a fire table sits within the planting, and a raised jacuzzi is set among the older trees at the far end of the garden, reached by a stone path.

Fittings are Fantini Sailing by Yabu Pushelberg. Energy rating B. The property holds a registered tourist licence for fifteen guests.
